Arrow Banjo Co.
Arrow banjos are fine handmade custom instruments made by a banjo player for banjo players. Each instrument is meticulously designed to have a wide dynamic range while maintaining an excellent tone, evenly balanced between the high and low strings. These instruments have an unmatched structural integrity which allows them to be carried in relative safety, protected only by a cloth case, whether traveling by skateboard, bike, train or just bouncing around in the back of a pickup truck.
Arrow banjos are made by Andrew Norcross deep in the mountains of North Carolina in an ancient stone and wooden barn which has been converted into a home and workshop. Although anything made deep in the mountains of North Carolina must be excellent by definition, Andrew takes extra precaution by selecting the finest Eastern maple and other outstanding tone woods. Each instrument is rigorously tested in the field, lovingly taught numerous tricks and generally allowed to absorb the ambiance of the region.
The banjos pictured below are already out making their way in the world and are therefore not available, but an instrument to meet your own specific needs can be made.
The 12" pots are made of Eastern rock maple. The necks are figured Eastern maple with a Bolivian rosewood fingerboard and accents. Brass inlay on the fingerboard can be added, as seen above.
The banjo pictured above was commissioned to be reminiscent of mistral banjos of the 19th century with a deep pot, square peg head and fewer brackets.
Although there are none pictured, fretted banjos are also available.
